4th Quarter Newsletter from the Chief,
Well, we have had a very busy few months and things are shaping up well for the Tonto Village Fire District. We have had several calls in the past couple of months and we ran our first Hwy 260 call that we have run in many years. We plan to start providing highway coverage with both Christopher Kohl's and Diamond Star assisting us depending on where the call is.
We have just taken delivery of our second structural Engine that will be running out of Station 62 in Mead Ranch area. This new truck will be helping us to meet our ISO requirements to provide service to all the resident and their guest of the district.
We have our new budget tax rate and it is almost 5 cents lower than projected. This will help a little with the impact to our taxpayer's finances. We have been able to meet our goals of providing better services and have plans to improve them even more. We have ordered a new Ford Cab and Chassis to build a new Type 3 Wildland unit, that will be used to fight the ever-present wildland fire threat. With this in place, we will be providing you, the owners of our fire district, the services you deserve.
We have six students in the college class being taught at the Diamond Star Fire Department for Arizona State Certification in Firefighter 1 & 2. They will be the first Certified Firefighters in the history of this department.
We are providing brush pickup at no charge to the property owners in the Tonto Village Fire District. If you are interested in this program, please email me at
